Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8840 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ ثنا زَائِدَةُ ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ قَالَ جَاءَ عَبْدُ اللهِ يَنْعَى عُمَرَ وَاسْتِخْلَافَ عُثْمَانَ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ «وَاللهِ مَا أَلَوْنَا عَنْ أَعْلَانَا ذَا فَوْقُ»
English Translation
Abdullah came announcing the death of Umar and the appointment of Uthman as caliph. Abdullah said: 'By Allah, we spared no effort in choosing the most pre-eminent among us.'
