Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8829 حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ أَفْرَسُ النَّاسِ ثَلَاثَةٌ صَاحِبَةُ مُوسَى الَّتِي قَالَتْ {يَا أَبَتِ اسْتَأْجِرْهُ إِنَّ خَيْرَ مَنِ اسْتَأْجَرْتَ الْقَوِيُّ الْأَمِينُ} قَالَ وَمَا رَأَيْتِ مِنْ قُوَّتِهِ؟ قَالَتْ جَاءَ إِلَى الْبِئْرِ وَعَلَيْهِ صَخْرَةٌ لَا يُقِلُّهَا كَذَا وَكَذَا فَرَفَعَهَا قَالَ مَا رَأَيْتِ مِنْ أَمَانَتِهِ؟ قَالَتْ كُنْتُ أَمْشِي أَمَامَهُ فَجَعَلَنِي خَلْفَهُ وَصَاحِبُ يُوسُفَ حَيْثُ قَالَ {أَكْرِمِي مَثْوَاهُ عَسَى أَنْ يَنْفَعَنَا أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُ وَلَدًا} وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ حِينَ اسْتَخْلَفَ عُمَرَ
English Translation
Abdullah said: The three most discerning people are: the woman of Moses who said: 'O my father, hire him; the best you can hire is the strong and trustworthy.' He asked: 'What did you see of his strength?' She said: 'He came to the well and upon it was a rock that only many men could lift, and he lifted it.' He asked: 'What did you see of his trustworthiness?' She said: 'I was walking ahead of him, so he put me behind him.' And the master of Joseph when he said: 'Make his stay comfortable; perhaps he will benefit us or we may adopt him as a son.' And Abu Bakr when he appointed Umar as his successor.
