English Translation
Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said: A man from the Companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him, met a man from the jinn and wrestled him. The human threw him. The jinni said: 'Wrestle me again.' He wrestled him again and threw him. The human said: 'I see you are scrawny and thin, as if your forearms are the forearms of a dog. Is that how all of you jinn are, or are you one of the weaker ones?' The jinni said: 'No, by Allah, among them I am indeed strong. But wrestle me a third time - if you throw me, I will teach you something beneficial.' He wrestled him and threw him. He said: 'Teach me.' The jinni asked: 'Do you recite Ayat al-Kursi?' He said: 'Yes.' The jinni said: 'You will never recite it in a house except that the devil will leave it making a sound like a donkey's bray, and will not enter until morning.' A man asked: 'O Abu Abd al-Rahman, who was that man from the Companions of Muhammad?' Abdullah frowned, turned to him, and said: 'Who could it be other than Umar, may Allah be pleased with him?'
