Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8524 حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ أَنَا شُعْبَةُ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ أَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ سَمِعَ مُرَّةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ «إِنَّ أَصْدَقَ الْحَدِيثِ كِتَابُ اللهِ وَأَحْسَنَ الْهَدْيِ هَدْيُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَشَرَّ الْأُمُورِ مُحْدَثَاتُهَا وَإِنَّ مَا تُوعَدُونَ لَآتٍ وَمَا أَنْتُمْ بِمُعْجِزِينَ إِنَّ بَعِيدًا مَا لَيْسَ آتِيًا أَلَا عَلَيْكُمْ بِالصِّدْقِ فَإِنَّهُ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَلَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ يَصْدُقُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ صَدِّيقًا وَيَثْبُتَ الْبِرُّ فِي قَلْبِهِ وَلَا يَكُونَ الْفُجُورُ فِي قَلْبِهِ مَوْضِعَ إِبْرَةٍ لِيَسْتَقِرَّ فِيهَا أَلَا وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالْكَذِبَ فَإِنَّهُ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ وَلَا يَزَالُ الرَّجُلُ يَكْذِبُ حَتَّى يُكْتَبَ عِنْدَ اللهِ كَذَّابًا وَيَسْتَقِرَّ الْفُجُورُ فِي قَلْبِهِ فَلَا يَكُنْ فِي قَلْبِهِ مَوْضِعُ إِبْرَةٍ لِيَسْتَقِرَّ فِيهَا»
English Translation
'Abdullah said: "The truest speech is the Book of Allah, the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad, and the worst of affairs are newly-invented ones. Indeed, what you are promised is coming, and you cannot escape it. What is far is that which is not coming. You must be truthful, for it leads to Paradise. A man continues to be truthful until he is recorded with Allah as a truthful one, and righteousness becomes established in his heart with no room even for the tip of a needle for wickedness. Beware of lying, for it leads to the Fire. A man continues to lie until he is recorded with Allah as a liar, and wickedness becomes established in his heart with no room even for the tip of a needle for righteousness."
