Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8505 حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ بَذِيمَةَ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ حَبْتَرٍ قَالَ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ يَا حَبَّذَا الْمَكْرُوهَانِ الْمَوْتُ وَالْفَقْرُ وَايْمُ اللهِ أَلَا إِنَّ الْغِنَى وَالْفَقْرَ وَمَا أُبَالِي بِأَيِّهِمَا ابْتُلِيتُ إِنْ كَانَ الْغِنَى إِنَّ فِيهِ لِلْعَطْفِ وَإِنْ كَانَ الْفَقْرُ إِنَّ فِيهِ لِلصَّبْرِ
English Translation
'Abdullah said: "How wonderful are the two disliked things: death and poverty. By Allah, it makes no difference to me with which of them I am tested. If it is wealth, it contains the opportunity for generosity, and if it is poverty, it contains the opportunity for patience."
