English Translation
Al-Aswad ibn Sari' said: I was reciting poetry to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and I did not recognize his companions, until a broad-shouldered, bald man came. I was told: "Be quiet, be quiet!" I said: "Woe to me! Who is this person for whom I must be silent in the presence of the Prophet (peace be upon him)?" It was said: "He is Umar ibn al-Khattab." By Allah, I later learned that it would not have bothered him, had he heard me, to not speak to me until he grabbed my leg and dragged me to al-Baqi'.
