Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:8332 حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي صَفْوَانَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ حَبِيبِ بْنِ نُدْبَةَ ثنا مُبَارَكُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ أَشْرَفَ عَلَيْنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ يَوْمًا فَقَالَ إِنِّي وَجَدْتُ الْمَرْءَ الْمُسْلِمَ بَيْنَ حَاجَتَيْنِ حَاجَةٌ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا لَا بُدَّ لَهُ مِنْهَا وَحَاجَةٌ لِلْآخِرَةِ لَا بُدَّ لَهُ مِنْهَا وَاللهُ أعْلَمُ أَيُّ الْحَاجَتَيْنِ تَغْلِبُ
English Translation
Uthman ibn Abi al-As looked out at us one day and said: 'I have found that the Muslim person is between two needs: a need of this world that he must fulfill, and a need of the Hereafter that he must fulfill. And Allah knows best which of the two needs will prevail.'
