Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:7629 حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمِصْرِيُّ الْأُبُلِّيُّ ثنا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ثنا جَسْرُ بْنُ فَرْقَدٍ ثنا النَّهَّاسُ بْنُ قَهْمٍ الْقَيْسِيُّ عَنْ شَدَّادٍ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ الْبَاهِلِيِّ ؓ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَمَّا بَلَغَ وَلَدُ مَعْدِ بْنِ عَدْنَانَ أَرْبَعِينَ رَجُلًا وَقَفُوا عَلَى عَسْكَرِ مُوسَى ﷺ وَانْتَهَبُوهُ فَدَعَا عَلَيْهِمْ مُوسَى بْنُ عِمْرَانَ ﷺ قَالَ يَا رَبِّ هَؤُلَاءِ وَلَدُ مَعْدٍ قَدْ أَغَارُوا عَلَى عَسْكَرِي فَأَوْحَى اللهُ إِلَيْهِ يَا مُوسَى بْنَ عِمْرَانَ لَا تَدْعُوا عَلَيْهِمْ فَإِنَّ مِنْهُمِ النَّبِيَّ الْأُمِّيَّ النَّذِيرَ الْبَشِيرَ بِجَنَّتِي وَمِنْهُمِ الْأُمَّةَ الْمَرْحُومَةَ أُمَّةَ مُحَمَّدٍ الَّذِينَ يَرْضَوْنَ مِنَ اللهِ بِالْيَسِيرِ مِنَ الرِّزْقِ وَيَرْضَى اللهُ مِنْهُمْ بِالْقَلِيلِ مِنَ الْعَمَلِ فَيُدْخِلُهُمُ اللهُ الْجَنَّةَ بِقَوْلِ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ لِأَنَّ نَبِيَّهُمْ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ الْمُتَوَاضِعَ فِي هَيْئَتِهِ الْمُجْتَمِعَ لَهُ اللُّبُّ فِي سُكُوتِهِ يَنْطِقُ بِالْحِكْمَةِ وَيَسْتَعْمِلُ الْحِلْمَ أَخْرَجْتُهُ مِنْ خَيْرِ جِيلٍ مِنْ أُمَّتِهِ قُرَيْشًا ثُمَّ أَخْرَجْتُهُ مِنْ هَاشِمٍ صَفْوَةِ قُرَيْشٍ فَهُمْ خَيْرٌ مِنْ خَيْرٍ إِلَى خَيْرٍ يَصِيرُ وَأُمَّتُهُ إِلَى خَيْرٍ يَصِيرُونَ
English Translation
Abu Umamah al-Bahili reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: When the descendants of Ma'add ibn Adnan reached forty men, they stopped at the camp of Musa (peace be upon him) and plundered it. So Musa ibn Imran (peace be upon him) supplicated, 'O Lord, these are the descendants of Ma'add who have raided my camp.' So Allah revealed to him, 'O Musa ibn Imran, do not supplicate against them, for among them is the unlettered Prophet, the warner, the bearer of glad tidings of My Paradise. And among them is the nation shown mercy - the nation of Muhammad, who are content from Allah with little provision, and Allah is content with them for little deeds, and He enters them into Paradise with the testimony: There is no god but Allah, because their Prophet Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abd al-Muttalib is the humble one in his appearance, possessing keen intellect in his silence, speaking with wisdom and practicing forbearance. I brought him forth from the best generation of his nation - Quraysh - then I brought him forth from Hashim, the chosen of Quraysh. They are the best of the best, heading toward goodness, and his nation is heading toward goodness.'
