English Translation
Sahl ibn Sa'd said: A man passed by the Prophet (peace be upon him), who looked at him and said: "What do you think of this man?" I said: "He is a man of nobility among the people. He is worthy — if he proposes marriage, he would be accepted; if he intercedes, his intercession would be granted; and if he speaks, he would be listened to." Then another man passed, and he said: "What do you think of this one?" I said: "This is a man from among the poor Muslims. He is one who — if he speaks, would not be listened to; if he proposes, would not be accepted; and if he intercedes, his intercession would not be granted." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "This one is better than an earth full of the likes of that one."
