English Translation
Al-Nu'man ibn Bashir reported: A man among us named Kharijah ibn Zayd died. We covered him with a cloth, and I stood to pray. Suddenly I heard a commotion and turned, and there he was, moving. He said: "The most resolute of the people, the middle one among them, is 'Abdullah, 'Umar, Commander of the Believers — the strong in his body, the strong in the command of Allah. 'Uthman ibn 'Affan, Commander of the Believers — the chaste, the self-restrained, who pardons many sins. Two [nights] have passed and four remain. The people disagree and have no unity. O people, attend to your imam, listen to him and obey. This is the Messenger of Allah and Ibn Rawahah." Then he said: "What has Zayd ibn Kharijah done?" — meaning his father. Then he said: "I took sararis (properties) unjustly." Then the voice faded.
