English Translation
Abu Ayyub said: "I was troubled by a night visitor in my house." There was a hole in a room of his. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Watch for it, and when you see something, say: 'Be gone! The Messenger of Allah summons you.'" He watched, and something descended from the hole. He jumped at it and said: "Be gone! The Messenger of Allah summons you," and caught it. It pleaded with him and said: "I will not return." He released it. In the morning he went to the Prophet (peace be upon him), who said: "What did your captive do?" He told him, and the Prophet said: "It will return." This happened three times. The third time, he caught it and said: "You are not leaving until I bring you to the Messenger of Allah." It pleaded and said: "I will teach you something — if you say it at night, no jinn or thief will come near you." It said: "Recite Ayat al-Kursi." He released it and went to the Prophet (peace be upon him), who said: "What did your captive do?" He said: "O Messenger of Allah, it pleaded with me until I took pity on it, and it taught me something to say — if I say it, no jinn or thief will come near me." The Prophet said: "It spoke the truth, even though it is a liar."
