Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:3798 حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ثنا وَحْشِيُّ بْنُ حَرْبِ بْنِ وَحْشِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ؓ وَجَّهَ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ فِي قِتَالِ أَهْلِ الرِّدَّةِ فَكُلِّمَ فِي ذَلِكَ فَأَبَى أَنْ يَرُدَّهَ وَقَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ وَذَكَرَ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ نِعْمَ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَأَخُو الْعَشِيرَةِ وَسَيْفٌ مِنْ سُيُوفِ اللهِ
English Translation
Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) dispatched Khalid ibn al-Walid to fight the people of apostasy. He was spoken to about that, but he refused to recall him and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say, mentioning Khalid ibn al-Walid: "What an excellent servant of Allah and brother of the clan, and a sword from the swords of Allah."
