Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:3599 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ ثنا أَبِي عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَسْلَمَ يُقَالُ لَهُ عُبَيْدُ بْنُ عُوَيْمِرٍ وَقَعَ عَلَى وَلِيدَتِهِ فَحَمَلَتْ فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ غُلَامًا يُقَالُ لَهُ حُمَامٌ وَذَلِكَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَمِّي وَكَلَّمَهُ فِي ابْنِهِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «تَسَلَّمِ ابْنَكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتَ» فَانْطَلَقَ فَأَخَذَ ابْنَهُ فَجَاءَ بِهِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَجَاءَ مَوْلَى الْغُلَامِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَعَرَضَ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ غُلَامَيْنِ فَقَالَ «خُذْ أَحَدَهُمَا وَدَعْ لِلرَّجُلِ ابْنَهُ» فَأَخَذَ غُلَامًا وَتَرَكَ لَهُ ابْنَهُ
English Translation
Yazid ibn Nu'aym narrated that a man from Aslam called 'Ubayd ibn 'Uwaymir had relations with his slave girl and she became pregnant and bore him a boy called Humam during the pre-Islamic era. My uncle came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and spoke to him about his son. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Take your son as much as you can.' He went and took his son and brought him to the Prophet (peace be upon him). The boy's master also came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) offered him two slaves and said: 'Take one of them and leave the man his son.' So he took a slave and left him his son.
