English Translation
Husayn ibn Wahwah narrated that Talhah ibn al-Bara' met the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, command me with whatever you wish and I will not disobey your command.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) was surprised by this since he was a youth, and said: 'Go and kill your father.' He went off to do it, but the Prophet called him back and said: 'Come back, for I was not sent to sever family ties.' Talhah then fell ill, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) visited him during winter in cold and clouds. When he left, he said to his family: 'I do not see Talhah except that death has come upon him, so inform me of him so I may attend him and pray over him, and hasten.' The Prophet had not reached Banu Salim ibn 'Awf before Talhah died and night fell upon him. Among what Talhah said was: 'Bury me and take me to my Lord, and do not call the Messenger of Allah, for I fear the Jews might harm him because of me.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) was informed in the morning and came and stood at his grave, and the people lined up with him. Then he raised his hands and said: 'O Allah, meet Talhah while You are pleased with him.'
