English Translation
Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas said: I was ill in Makkah, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came to visit me. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have wealth and no heir except one daughter. Shall I give two-thirds of my wealth in charity?' He said: 'No.' I said: 'Half?' He said: 'No.' I said: 'A third?' He said: 'A third, and a third is much. It is better for you to leave your heirs rich than to leave them poor, begging from people.'
