Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:265 حَّدَثَنا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ «تَصَدَّقَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ بِشَطْرِ مَالِهِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافٍ ثُمَّ تَصَدَّقَ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفًا ثُمَّ تَصَدَّقَ بِأَرْبَعِينَ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ ثُمَّ حَمَلَ عَلَى خَمْسِمِائَةِ فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ ثُمَّ حَمَلَ عَلَى أَلْفٍ وَخَمْسِمِائَةِ رَاحِلَةٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَكَانَ عَامَّةُ مَالِهِ مِنَ التِّجَارَةِ»
English Translation
Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf gave half his wealth in charity during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) — four thousand dirhams. Then he gave forty thousand, then forty thousand dinars. Then he equipped five hundred horses in the way of Allah, then one thousand five hundred camels in the way of Allah. Most of his wealth came from trade.
