English Translation
Jabir ibn 'Atik narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Backbiting is worse than adultery." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, how is backbiting worse than adultery?" He said: "A man commits adultery and then repents, and Allah accepts his repentance. But the backbiter is not forgiven until the one he backbit forgives him."
