English Translation
Jabir ibn Samurah said: "We used to pray behind the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and say: 'Peace be upon so-and-so, peace be upon so-and-so.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'What is with this motioning of yours with your hands as if they are tails of stubborn horses? It suffices one of you to place his hand on his thigh and then give salutation to his brother on his right and left.'"
