Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:178 حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ سَلْمَانَ الْفَرَّاءُ مَوْلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ حُرَيْثٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ؓ أَنَّهُ كَانَ قَاعِدًا عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ فَذَكَرَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ ؓ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ خَيْرَ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ بَعْدَ نَبِيِّهَا ﷺ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَالثَّانِي عُمَرُ وَلَوْ أَشَاءُ أَنْ أَذْكُرَ الثَّالِثَ ذَكَرْتُهُ»
English Translation
Ali was sitting and leaning, when a man asked him a question. He said: 'You will find out.' Then the man asked again, and he said: 'You will find out.' Then he recited: 'Every soul shall taste death, and you shall receive your full reward on the Day of Resurrection.'
