Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:1594 حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ حِينَ أَعْطَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ وَبَنِي الْمُطَّلِبِ مِنْ خُمْسِ خَيْبَرَ وَلَمْ يُعْطِ بَنِي عَبْدِ شَمْسٍ وَلَا بَنِي عَبْدِ مَنَافٍ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ بَنِي هَاشِمٍ وَبَنِي الْمُطَّلِبِ شَيْءٌ وَاحِدٌ»
English Translation
Narrated Jubayr ibn Mut'im: 'Uthman ibn 'Affan asked the Prophet (peace be upon him) when he gave to Banu Hashim and Banu al-Muttalib from the fifth of (the spoils of) Khaybar, but did not give to Banu 'Abd Shams nor Banu 'Abd Manaf. He (the Prophet) said: "Banu Hashim and Banu al-Muttalib are one and the same."
