Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:1341 حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي دَاوُدُ بْنُ رُشَيْدٍ ثنا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو قِلَابَةَ حَدَّثَنِي ثَابِتُ بْنُ الضَّحَّاكِ قَالَ نَذَرَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ ينْحَرَ بِبُوَانَةَ فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ أَنْ أَنْحَرَ بِبُوَانَةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «هَلْ كَانَ فِيهَا وَثَنٌ مِنْ أَوْثَانِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يُعْبَدُ؟» قَالَ لَا قَالَ «فَهَلْ كَانَ فِيهَا عِيدٌ مِنْ أَعْيَادِهِمْ؟» قَالَ لَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَوْفِ بِنَذْرِكَ فَإِنَّهُ لَا وَفَاءَ لِنَذْرٍ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ وَلَا فِي قَطِيعَةِ رَحِمٍ وَلَا فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ ابْنُ آدَمَ»
English Translation
Thabit ibn al-Dahhak said: A man made a vow during the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) to slaughter an animal at Buwanah. He came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said: "I made a vow to slaughter at Buwanah." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Was there any idol from the idols of the pre-Islamic era worshipped there?" He said: "No." He said: "Was there any festival of theirs held there?" He said: "No." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Fulfill your vow, for there is no fulfillment of a vow that involves disobedience to Allah, nor in cutting ties of kinship, nor in what the son of Adam does not possess."
