Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:1336 حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ سَلْمٍ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ ثنا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو قِلَابَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ حَلَفَ بِمِلَّةٍ سِوَى الْإِسْلَامِ كَاذِبًا فَهُوَ كَمَا قَالَ وَمَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ بِشَيْءٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا عُذِّبَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَلَيْسَ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ نَذْرٌ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ»
English Translation
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever swears by a religion other than Islam while lying, he is as he said. Whoever kills himself with something in this world will be punished with it on the Day of Resurrection. And a person has no vow regarding what he does not possess."
