English Translation
Ibn Abbas narrated that his father al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib sent him on an errand to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). Maymunah bint al-Harith was the aunt of Ibn Abbas. He entered upon her and found the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) in the mosque. Ibn Abbas said: I lay down in her room, intending to count how many prayers the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would pray. He came while I was lying in the room, after part of the night had passed. He said: 'Has the boy fallen asleep?' Then he took part of a blanket that was on Maymunah, wrapping some around himself while she kept the rest. Then he stood and prayed in sets of two until he had prayed eight rak'ahs. Then he performed witr with five, not sitting between them. Then he sat and praised Allah as He deserves, offering much praise. The last of his words were: 'O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my hearing, light in my sight, light on my right, light on my left, light before me, light behind me, and increase me in light, increase me in light, increase me in light.'
