Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:12307 حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْخُزَاعِيُّ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ قَالَا ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ ثنا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ جَالِسًا فِي ظِلِّ حُجْرَةٍ قَدْ كَادَ يَقْلِصُ عَلَيْهَا الظِّلُّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّكُمْ سَيَأْتِيكُمْ رَجُلٌ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْكُمْ بِعَيْنَيْ شَيْطَانٍ فَإِذَا جَاءَكُمْ فَلَا تُكَلِّمُوهُ» فَلَمْ يَلْبَثُوا أَنْ طَلَعَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَجُلٌ فَدَعَاهُ فَقَالَ «عَلَامَ تَشْتُمُنِي أَنْتَ وَأَصْحَابُكَ؟» قَالَ ادْعُوهُمْ فَدَعَاهُمْ فَجَعَلُوا يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللهِ مَا قَالُوا وَمَا فَعَلُوا حَتَّى تَجَاوَزَ عَنْهُمْ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {يَوْمَ يَبْعَثُهُمُ اللهُ جَمِيعًا فَيَحْلِفُونَ لَهُ كَمَا يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ} الْآيَةَ
English Translation
Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah ♂ was sitting in the shade of a room whose shadow had almost contracted. The Messenger of Allah ♂ said: "A man will soon come to you who looks at you with the eyes of a devil. When he comes, do not speak to him." It was not long before a man appeared. He called him and said: "Why do you and your companions insult me?" He said: "Call them." He called them, and they began swearing by Allah that they had not said anything or done anything. He pardoned them. Then Allah revealed: {On the Day Allah will resurrect them all, and they will swear to Him as they swear to you} - the verse.
