Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:12116 حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَنِيفَةَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَنِيفَةَ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا حَمْزَةُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الشِّيرَازِيُّ ثنا أَبُو سَمُرَةَ قَاضِي حَوَرٍ ثنا أَبُو شَيْبَةَ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ؓ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا مَعْشَرَ الْأَنْصَارِ مَنْ سَيِّدُكُمْ؟» قَالُوا جَدُّ بْنُ قَيْسٍ وَإِنَّا لَنُبَجِّلُهُ قَالَ «لَيْسَ سَيِّدَكُمْ وَلَكِنْ سَيِّدُكُمْ عَمْرُو بْنُ الْجَمُوحِ» وَكَانَ سَخِيًّا
English Translation
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'O assembly of the Ansar, who is your leader?' They said: 'Jadd ibn Qays, though we consider him miserly.' He said: 'He is not your leader. Rather, your leader is Amr ibn al-Jamuh.' And he was generous.
