English Translation
Ibn Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'Indeed, Allah has made Makkah sacred. It was not lawful for anyone before me, nor will it be lawful for anyone after me. It was made lawful for me only for an hour of a day. Its vegetation is not to be cut, its trees are not to be felled, its game is not to be disturbed, and its lost property is not to be picked up except by one who will announce it.' Al-Abbas said: 'O Messenger of Allah, except the idhkhir (a fragrant grass) for our goldsmiths.' He said: 'Except the idhkhir.'
