English Translation
Ibn Abbas reported that Umar ibn al-Khattab entered upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) while he was on a mat that had left marks on his side. He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, if only you would take a more comfortable bed than this.' He said: 'What do I have to do with this world? By the One in Whose hand is my soul, my example and the example of this world is but like a rider who traveled on a hot day and rested under a tree for a while, then continued on and left it.'
