Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:11757 حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الشَّهْرَ صُومُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ وَأَفْطِرُوا لِرُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ حَالَتْ دُونَهُ غَيَايَةٌ فَأَكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ»
English Translation
Ibn Abbas reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Do not anticipate the month. Fast when you sight it (the crescent moon) and break your fast when you sight it. If clouds obscure it from you, then complete the count.'
