English Translation
Ibn Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was sitting in a house wearing only his lower garment, which he had placed between his legs with his thighs exposed. Abu Bakr came seeking permission and was admitted. Then Umar came and was admitted. Then Uthman came seeking permission, and when the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw him, he got up quickly and entered the house. Aisha was troubled by this, and when the people left she said: 'O Messenger of Allah, Abu Bakr and Umar entered and you did not change your state, but when Uthman entered you got up.' He said: 'O Aisha, shall I not be modest before one from whom the angels are modest? Indeed, the angels are modest before Uthman.'
