English Translation
Ibn Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) did not prescribe a fixed punishment for drinking alcohol. Ibn Abbas said: A man drank an intoxicant and was found staggering in an alley. He was being taken to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), but when he was near the house of al-Abbas, he broke free and entered al-Abbas's house and clung to him. This was mentioned to the Prophet (peace be upon him), who laughed and said: 'Did he do that?' and did not inquire further about him.
