Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:11400 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ نَسخَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ عِدَّتُهَا فِي أَهْلِهَا تَعْتَدُّ حَيْثُ شَاءَتْ قَوْلُ اللهِ ﷻ {غَيْرَ إِخْرَاجٍ} قَالَ عَطَاءٌ إِنْ شَاءَتِ اعْتَدَّتْ فِي أَهْلِهِ وَإِنْ شَاءَتْ خَرَجَتْ لِقَوْلِ اللهِ ﷻ {فَإِنْ خَرَجْنَ فَلَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْكُمْ فِيمَا فَعَلْنَ فِي أَنْفُسِهِنِّ}
English Translation
Regarding the verse, Ibn Abbas said: This verse abrogated the waiting period (being observed) at her husband's family — she may observe the waiting period wherever she wishes. It is the saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: {without being turned out}. Ata said: 'If she wishes, she may observe the waiting period at her husband's family, and if she wishes, she may leave, due to Allah's saying {And if they leave, there is no blame upon you for what they do with themselves}.''
