English Translation
Ibn Abbas narrated: 'When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) stood over Hamzah and saw what had happened to him, he said: "Were it not that the women would grieve, I would not have buried him and would have left him until he would be in the bellies of wild animals and the crops of birds, until Allah would resurrect him from where he was." He was grieved by what he saw and said: "If I prevail over the Quraysh, I will mutilate thirty of their men." Then Allah the Almighty revealed regarding that: "And if you punish, punish with the like of that which you were afflicted with" to His saying "scheme." Then he ordered that Hamzah be prepared facing the qiblah, then he said the takbir over him nine times. Then the martyrs were brought to him one by one and placed next to Hamzah, and he prayed over him and over the martyrs with him, until he prayed over him and the martyrs seventy-two prayers. Then he stood over his companions until they were buried. When the Quran was revealed, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) pardoned, forgave, and abandoned mutilation.'
