Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:10526 حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْبَزَّارُ ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَنْتَرَةَ عَنْ زَاذَانَ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَقَدْ سَبَقَ إِلَى مَجْلِسِهِ أَصْحَابُ الْخَزِّ وَالدِّيبَاجِ فَقُلْتُ أَدْنَيْتَ النَّاسَ وَأَقْصَيْتَنِي فَقَالَ لِي ادْنُ فَأَدْنَانِي حَتَّى أَقْعَدَنِي عَلَى بِسَاطِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنَّهُ يَكُونُ لِلْوَالِدَيْنِ عَلَى وَلَدِهِمَا دَيْنٌ فَإِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ يَتَعَلَّقَانِ بِهِ فَيَقُولُ أَنَا وَلَدُكُمَا فَيَوَدَّانِ أَوْ يَتَمَنَّيَانِ لَوْ كَانَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ
English Translation
Zadhan said: "I entered upon Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, and people wearing silk and brocade had already taken the seats nearest to him. I said: 'You have brought those people close and pushed me away.' He said: 'Come closer.' He brought me near until he seated me on his mat, then said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: Parents will have a debt owed by their child. On the Day of Resurrection, they will cling to him, and he will say: I am your child. They will wish — or hope — that it had been more than that.'"
