Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:10520 حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ عَنْ كُرْدُوسٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ مَرَّ الْمَل��أُ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَعِنْدَهُ أُنَاسٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَصُهَيْبٌ وَخَبَّابٌ فَقَالُوا يَا مُحَمَّدُ أَهَؤُلَاءِ مَنَّ اللهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ بَيْنِنَا؟ لَوْ طَرَدْتَ هَؤُلَاءِ لَاتَّبَعْنَاكَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ ﷻ {وَلَا تَطْرُدِ الَّذِينَ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهَمْ بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ يُرِيدُونَ وَجْهَهُ} إِلَى قَوْلِهِ {أَلَيْسَ اللهُ بِأَعْلَمَ بِالشَّاكِرِينَ}
English Translation
Abdullah said: "The chiefs of Quraysh passed by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) while some Muslims were with him, including Suhayb and Khabbab. They said: 'O Muhammad, are these the ones whom Allah has favored among us? If you would drive them away, we would follow you.' So Allah the Almighty revealed: {And do not drive away those who call upon their Lord morning and evening, seeking His face} until His saying: {Is not Allah most knowing of the grateful?}"
