نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ الْكَلاعِيِّ , قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ مَكْحُولا عَنْ ذَبَائِحِ عِيدَاتِ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ وَالْمُرَتَّبَاتِ لكنائسهم، فَتَلا هَذِهِ الآيَةَ: الْيَوْمَ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ وَطَعَامُ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ حِلٌّ لَكُمْ وَطَعَامُكُمْ حِلٌّ لَهُمْ سورة المائدة آية 5 , قَالَ:" طَعَامُهُمْ ذَبَائِحُهُمْ".
English Translation
Makhul (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about the sacrifices of the People of the Book at their festivals and the animals designated for their churches. He recited the verse: 'Today the good things have been made lawful for you, and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them' (al-Ma'idah: 5). He said: 'Their food means their slaughtered animals.'
Urdu Translation
مکحول رحمہ اللہ سے اہلِ کتاب کی عیدوں کی قربانیوں اور گرجا گھروں میں مخصوص ذبائح کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا تو انہوں نے یہ آیت تلاوت فرمائی:﴿الْيَوْمَ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ وَطَعَامُ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ حِلٌّ لَكُمْ وَطَعَامُكُمْ حِلٌّ لَهُمْ﴾پھر فرمایا: ان کا طعام ان کی ذبیحہ شدہ چیزیں ہیں۔[سنن سعید بن منصور/كتاب التفسير/حدیث: 714]
