English Translation
Ubaidah (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked about the verse: 'Spend from the good things of what you have earned, and from what We produced for you from the earth, and do not aim at what is inferior to spend from it' (al-Baqarah: 267). He said: This is about zakah. A counterfeit dirham is more beloved to me than a date.
