Arabic (Original)
نا أَبُو شِهَابٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: كَانَ يُقَالُ:" إِذَا كَانَ الْخِصْبُ فَأَعْطُوا الظَّهْرَ حَقَّهُ فِي الْمَنْزِلِ، وَإِنْ كَانَ الْجَدْبُ فَانْجُوا بِالظَّهْرِ، وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالدُّلْجَةِ، فَإِنَّ الأَرْضَ تُطْوَى بِاللَّيْلِ".
English Translation
Al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "It used to be said: 'When the land is fertile, give the riding animals their due at the stopping place. When there is drought, preserve the riding animals. And travel by night, for the earth is folded during the night.'"
Urdu Translation
حسن بصری رحمہ اللہ نے فرمایا:”جب زمین خوشحال ہو تو سواری کو منزل پر اتارو اور اس کا حق ادا کرو، اور جب زمین خشک ہو تو سواری کو بچاؤ، اور رات میں سفر کرو کیونکہ رات کو زمین سمٹ جاتی ہے۔“[سنن سعید بن منصور/كتاب الجهاد/حدیث: 3796]
