Arabic (Original)
وعن ابن مسعود رضي الله عنه، قال: صليت مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ، ليلة، فلم يزل قائمًا حتى هممت بأمر سوء. قيل: ما هممت؟ قال: هممت أن أجلس وأدعه. ((متفق عليه)) .
English Translation
Hadrat Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be well pleased with him) reported that one night I joined the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) in his (optional) Salat. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) prolonged the Qiyam (standing) so much that I made up my mind to commit an act of wrong. He was questioned: "What did you intend to do?" He replied: "I intended to sit down and stop following him (in Salat).".
Urdu Translation
حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں: میں نے ایک رات نبی کریم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ نماز پڑھی، آپ اتنا لمبا قیام کرتے رہے کہ میں نے بُرا ارادہ کرنے کا سوچا۔ پوچھا گیا: کیا ارادہ کیا؟ فرمایا: ارادہ کیا کہ بیٹھ جاؤں اور آپ کو (تنہا) چھوڑ دوں۔
