Narrated bySahl bin Sa'd
Arabic (Original)
وعن سهل بن سعد قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : "إنما جعل الاستئذان من أجل البصر" ((متفق عليه)).
English Translation
Hadrat Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be well pleased with him) reported that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "Seeking permission to enter (somebody's house) has been prescribed in order to restrain the eyes (from looking at something we are not supposed to look at).".
Urdu Translation
حضرت سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے، انہوں نے فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اجازت مانگنا اس لیے مقرر کیا گیا ہے کہ نگاہ نہ پڑے (یعنی گھر والوں کی پردے کی حالت پر)۔ (متفق علیہ)
