Arabic (Original)
وعن أبي أمامة رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : " يا ابن آدم: إنك أن تبذل الفضل خير لك، وأن تمسكه شر لك، ولا تلام على كفاف، وابدأ بمن تعول" ((رواه الترمذي وقال: حديث حسن صحيح)).
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Umamah (may Allah be well pleased with him) reported:Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "O son of Adam (upon him be peace), if you spend the surplus, it will be better for you; and if you retain it, it will be evil for you. You will not be reprimanded for storing what is enough for your need. First of all spend upon those who are your dependents.".
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابو اُمامہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "اے ابن آدم! اگر تو فاضل مال خرچ کرے تو تیرے لیے بہتر ہے، اور اگر روکے رکھے تو تیرے لیے بُرا ہے۔ ضرورت کے بقدر رکھنے پر تجھے ملامت نہیں، اور خرچ کرنا اپنے اہل و عیال سے شروع کر۔" (رواہ الترمذی، حدیث حسن صحیح)
