Arabic (Original)
وعنه رضي الله عنه أنه سمع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول: "كانت امرأتان معهما ابناهما، جاء الذئب فذهب بابن إحداهما، فقالت لصاحبتها: إنما ذهب بابنك، وقالت الأخرى إنما ذهب بابنك فتحاكما إلى داود صلى الله عليه وسلم فقضى به للكبرى، فخرجتا على سليمان بن داود، صلى الله عليه وسلم فأخبرتاه، فقال: ائتوني بالسكين أشقه بينهما. فقالت الصغرى: لا تفعل رحمك الله، هو ابنها، فقضى به للصغرى" ((متفق عليه)).
English Translation
Hadrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be well pleased with him) said:The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated, "There were two women, each had her child with her. A wolf came and took away the child of one of them. One woman said to her companion: 'The wolf has taken your son.' The other said: 'It has taken your son.' So both of them took the dispute to Prophet Dawud (upon him be peace) (David (upon him be peace)) (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) who judged that the boy should be given to the older lady. Then they went to Prophet Sulaiman (upon him be peace) (Solomon (upon him be peace)) (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) son of Dawud and put the case before him. Prophet Sulaiman said: 'Give me a knife so that I may cut the child into two and give one half to each of you.' The younger woman said: 'Do not do so; may Allah bless you! He is her child.' On that Prophet Sulaiman decided the case in favour of the younger woman.".
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو ارشاد فرماتے ہوئے سنا: دو عورتیں تھیں اور ان کے ساتھ ان کے بچے تھے۔ بھیڑیا آیا اور ایک کا بچہ لے گیا۔ ایک نے دوسری سے کہا: تیرا بچہ لے گیا۔ دوسری نے کہا: نہیں بلکہ تیرا بچہ لے گیا۔ دونوں نے حضرت داؤد علیہ السلام کے پاس فیصلہ کرایا تو انہوں نے بڑی عورت کے حق میں فیصلہ کیا۔ دونوں حضرت سلیمان علیہ السلام کے پاس گئیں۔ انہوں نے فرمایا: مجھے چاقو لاؤ، میں بچے کو دونوں میں تقسیم کر دیتا ہوں۔ چھوٹی عورت نے کہا: ایسا نہ کریں، اللہ آپ پر رحم فرمائے! بچہ اسی کا ہے۔ تب حضرت سلیمان علیہ السلام نے چھوٹی عورت کے حق میں فیصلہ فرمایا۔ (متفق علیہ)
