Arabic (Original)
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: الْكِبْرِيَاءُ رِدَائِي، وَالْعَظَمَةُ إِزَارِي، فَمَنْ نَازَعَنِي وَاحِدًا مِنْهُمَا، قَذَفْتُهُ فِي النَّارِ". رواه أبو داود(وكذلك ابن ماجه وأحمد) بأسانيد صحيحة.(1)
English Translation
On the authority of Hadrat Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be well pleased with him), who said that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: Allah (mighty and sublime be He) said: Pride is My cloak and greatness My robe, and whoever competes with Me in respect of either of them I shall cast into Hell-fire. It was related by Abu Dawud (also by Ibn Majah and Ahmad) with sound chains of authority. This Hadith also appears in Muslim in another version.
Urdu Translation
حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ حضور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اللہ عزوجل نے فرمایا: کبریائی میری چادر ہے اور عظمت میرا تہبند ہے، جو ان میں سے کسی ایک میں مجھ سے جھگڑا کرے اسے میں جہنم میں ڈال دوں گا۔ اسے ابو داود نے روایت کیا (نیز ابن ماجہ اور احمد نے) صحیح اسانید سے۔ یہ حدیث مسلم میں بھی دوسری روایت سے آئی ہے۔
