Arabic (Original)
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ، قَالَ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا تَقُولُ فِي رَجُلٍ صَامَ الدَّهْرَ كُلَّهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " وَدِدْتُ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَطْعَمِ الدَّهْرَ شَيْئًا " . قَالَ فَثُلُثَيْهِ قَالَ " أَكْثَرَ " . قَالَ فَنِصْفَهُ قَالَ " أَكْثَرَ " . قَالَ " أَفَلاَ أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِمَا يُذْهِبُ وَحَرَ الصَّدْرِ " . قَالُوا بَلَى . قَالَ " صِيَامُ ثَلاَثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ " .
English Translation
It is narrated that Hadrat 'Amr bin Shurahbil (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: "A man came to the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and submitted: 'O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), what do you say about a man who fated for the rest of his life?' The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: 'I wish that he would never eat for the rest of his life.' He said: 'Two-thirds ( of a lifetime)?' he said: 'That is too much.' He said: 'Half?' He said: 'Shall I not tell you of that which will take away impurity from the heart?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Fasting for three days each month."' 'Ata said: "someone who heard him told me that Hadrat Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted
Urdu Translation
عمرو بن شرحبیل کہتے ہیں کہ ایک شخص رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس آیا اور کہنے لگا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ اس شخص کے بارے میں کیا فرماتے ہیں جو صیام الدھر رکھے؟ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”میں تو یہ چاہوں گا کہ کبھی کچھ کھائے ہی نہ“، اس نے کہا: اس کا دو تہائی رکھے تو؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”زیادہ ہے“، اس نے کہا: آدھے ایام رکھے تو؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”زیادہ ہے“، پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ”کیا میں تمہیں وہ چیز نہ بتاؤں جو سینے کی سوزش کو ختم کر دے“، لوگوں نے کہا: جی ہاں ( ضرور بتائیے ) آپ نے فرمایا: ”یہ ہر مہینے میں تین دن کا روزہ ہے“۔
