Arabic (Original)
أَخْبَرَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو هِلاَلٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا غَيْلاَنُ، - وَهُوَ ابْنُ جَرِيرٍ - قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، - وَهُوَ ابْنُ مَعْبَدٍ الزِّمَّانِيُّ - عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ، قَالَ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَمَرَرْنَا بِرَجُلٍ فَقَالُوا يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ هَذَا لاَ يُفْطِرُ مُنْذُ كَذَا وَكَذَا . فَقَالَ " لاَ صَامَ وَلاَ أَفْطَرَ " .
English Translation
It is narrated that Hadrat 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: "We were with the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and we passed by a man. They submitted: 'O the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) of Allah, this man has not broken his fast for such and such a time.' He said: 'He has neither fasted nor broken his fast."' 'Ata said: "someone who heard him told me that Hadrat Ibn 'Umar (said) that the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'Whoever fasts every day of his life, then he has not fasted
Urdu Translation
حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ تھے، تو ہم سب کا گزر ایک شخص کے پاس سے ہوا، ( اس کے بارے میں ) لوگوں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے نبی! یہ شخص ایسا ہے جو اتنی مدت سے افطار نہیں کر رہا ہے ( یعنی برابر روزے رکھ رہا ہے ) آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”نہ اس نے روزہ رکھا، نہ ہی افطار کیا“۔
