أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، قَالَ قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ - رضى الله عنها - قَالَتْ مَنْ أَنْتَ قُلْتُ أَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ هِشَامِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ . قَالَتْ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ أَبَاكَ . قُلْتُ أَخْبِرِينِي عَنْ صَلاَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم . قَالَتْ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ وَكَانَ . قُلْتُ أَجَلْ . قَالَتْ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يُصَلِّي بِاللَّيْلِ صَلاَةَ الْعِشَاءِ ثُمَّ يَأْوِي إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ فَيَنَامُ فَإِذَا كَانَ جَوْفُ اللَّيْلِ قَامَ إِلَى حَاجَتِهِ وَإِلَى طَهُورِهِ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَيُصَلِّي ثَمَانِيَ رَكَعَاتٍ يُخَيَّلُ إِلَىَّ أَنَّهُ يُسَوِّي بَيْنَهُنَّ فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ وَالرُّكُوعِ وَالسُّجُودِ وَيُوتِرُ بِرَكْعَةٍ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ ثُمَّ يَضَعُ جَنْبَهُ فَرُبَّمَا جَاءَ بِلاَلٌ فَآذَنَهُ بِالصَّلاَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُغْفِيَ وَرُبَّمَا يُغْفِي وَرُبَّمَا شَكَكْتُ أَغْفَى أَوْ لَمْ يُغْفِ حَتَّى يُؤْذِنَهُ بِالصَّلاَةِ فَكَانَتْ تِلْكَ صَلاَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم حَتَّى أَسَنَّ وَلَحُمَ - فَذَكَرَتْ مِنْ لَحْمِهِ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ - قَالَتْ وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ الْعِشَاءَ ثُمَّ يَأْوِي إِلَى فِرَاشِهِ فَإِذَا كَانَ جَوْفُ اللَّيْلِ قَامَ إِلَى طَهُورِهِ وَإِلَى حَاجَتِهِ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ يَدْخُلُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَيُصَلِّي سِتَّ رَكَعَاتٍ يُخَيَّلُ إِلَىَّ أَنَّهُ يُسَوِّي بَيْنَهُنَّ فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ وَالرُّكُوعِ وَالسُّجُودِ ثُمَّ يُوتِرُ بِرَكْعَةٍ ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ ثُمَّ يَضَعُ جَنْبَهُ وَرُبَّمَا جَاءَ بِلاَلٌ فَآذَنَهُ بِالصَّلاَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُغْفِيَ وَرُبَّمَا أَغْفَى وَرُبَّمَا شَكَكْتُ أَغْفَى أَمْ لاَ حَتَّى يُؤْذِنَهُ بِالصَّلاَةِ قَالَتْ فَمَا زَالَتْ تِلْكَ صَلاَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم .
English Translation
It is narrated that Hadrat Sa'd bin Hisham bin 'Amir (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: " I came to Al-Madinah and entered upon Hadrat Aishah, may Allah (SWT) be pleased with her. She said: 'Who are you?' I said: 'I am Sa'd bin Hisham bin 'Amir.' She said: 'May Allah have mercy on your father.' I said: 'Tell me about the prayer of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).' She said: 'The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) did such and such.' I said: 'Yes indeed.' She said: 'The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to pray Isha' at night, then he would go to his bed and sleep. In the middle of the night, he would get up to relieve himself and go to his water for purification and perform wudu. Then he went into the Masjid and prayed eight rak'ahs. I think he made the recitation, bowing and prostration equal in length. Then he prayed one rak'ah of witr, then he prayed two rak'ahs sitting down. Then he lay down on his side. Sometimes Hadrat Bilal would come and tell him that it was time to pray before he napped, and sometimes he napped. And sometimes I was not sure if he had napped or not before he told him that it was time to pray. This is how the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to pray until he grew older and gained weight"- and she mentioned whatever Allah (SWT) willed about his gaining weight. She said: "And the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) used to lead the people in praying witr, then he would go to his bed. In the middle of the night, he would get up and go to water for purification, and to relieve himself, then he would perform wudu. Then he would go into the masjid and pray six rak'ahs, and I think he made the recitation, bowing, and prostration equal in length. Then he prayed one rak'ah of witr, then he prayed two rak'ahs sitting down. Then he lay down on his side. سعد بن ہشام بن عامر کہتے ہیں میں مدینہ آیا تو حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے پاس آیا، انہوں نے پوچھا: تم کون ہو؟ میں نے کہا: میں سعد بن ہشام بن عامر ہوں، انہوں نے کہا: اللہ تمہارے باپ پر رحم کرے، میں نے کہا: مجھے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی نماز کے متعلق کچھ بتائیے، تو انہوں نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ایسا ایسا کرتے تھے، میں نے کہا: اچھا، انہوں نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم رات میں عشاء کی نماز پڑھتے تھے، پھر آپ اپنے بچھونے کی طرف آتے اور سو جاتے، پھر جب آدھی رات ہوتی، تو قضائے حاجت کے لیے اٹھتے اور وضو کے پانی کے پاس آتے، اور وضو کرتے، پھر مسجد آتے اور آٹھ رکعتیں پڑھتے، تو پھر ایسا محسوس ہوتا کہ ان میں قرآت، رکوع اور سجدے سب برابر برابر ہیں، اور ایک رکعت وتر پڑھتے، پھر بیٹھ کر دو رکعت پڑھتے، پھر آپ اپنے پہلو کے بل لیٹ جاتے، تو کبھی اس سے پہلے کہ آپ کی آنکھ لگے حضرت بلال رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ آپ کے پاس آتے، اور آپ کو نماز کی اطلاع دیتے، اور کبھی آپ کی آنکھ لگ جاتی، اور کبھی مجھے شک ہوتا کہ آپ سوئے یا نہیں سوئے یہاں تک کہ وہ آپ کو نماز کی خبر دیتے، تو یہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی نماز تھی، یہاں تک کہ آپ عمردراز ہو گئے، اور جسم پر گوشت چڑھ گیا، پھر انہوں نے آپ کے جسم پر گوشت چڑھنے کا حال بیان کیا جو اللہ نے چاہا، وہ کہتی ہیں: نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم لوگوں کو عشاء کی نماز پڑھاتے، پھر اپنے بچھونے کی طرف آتے، تو جب آدھی رات ہو جاتی تو آپ اپنی پاکی اور حاجت کے لیے اٹھ کر جاتے، پھر وضو کرتے، پھر مسجد آتے تو چھ رکعتیں پڑھتے، ایسا محسوس ہوتا کہ آپ ان میں قرآت، رکوع اور سجدے میں برابری رکھتے ہیں، پھر آپ ایک رکعت وتر پڑھتے، پھر دو رکعت بیٹھ کر پڑھتے، پھر اپنے پہلو کے بل لیٹتے تو کبھی حضرت بلال رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ آپ کی آنکھ لگنے سے پہلے ہی آ کر نماز کی اطلاع دیتے، اور کبھی آنکھ لگ جانے پر آتے، اور کبھی مجھے شک ہوتا کہ آپ کی آنکھ لگی یا نہیں یہاں تک کہ وہ آپ کو نماز کی خبر دیتے، وہ کہتی ہیں: تو برابر یہی رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی نماز رہی۔
