English Translation
Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: My father (may Allah be pleased with him) carried me to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, be a witness that I have given (my son) Nu'man such and such a thing from my wealth as a gift." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Have you given all your sons the like of what you have given Nu'man?" My father (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "No." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Then do not make me a witness; make someone else a witness." Then he said: "Would it please you that they should all be equal toward you in showing kindness?" My father said: "Yes." So the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Then do not do this (that is, give to one and not to the rest)." [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 991]
Urdu Translation
سیدنا نعمان بن بشیر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہمیرے والد رضی اللہ عنہ مجھے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس اٹھا کر لے گئے اور کہا کہ یا رسول اللہ! گواہ رہئیے کہ میں نے (اپنے بیٹے) نعمان کو فلاں فلاں چیز اپنے مال میں سے ہبہ کی۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ کیا سب بیٹوں کو تو نے ایسا ہی دیا ہے جیسا نعمان کو دیا ہے؟ میرے والد رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ نہیں۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ پھر تو مجھ کو گواہ نہ کر اور کسی کو کر لے۔ اس کے بعد فرمایا کہ کیا تجھے یہ بات اچھی لگتی ہے کہ سب تیرے ساتھ نیکی کرنے میں برابر ہوں؟ میرے والد نے کہا کہ ہاں، تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ پھر تو ایسا مت کر (یعنی ایک کو دے اور باقی کو نہ دے)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 991]
