English Translation
Narrated Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman: I asked Umm al-Mu'minin A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her): How much was the dowry of the (pure wives) of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)? She said: The dowry of his (peace be upon him) pure wives was twelve uqiyah and one nashsh. She asked: Do you know the amount of a nashsh? Abu Salamah says: I said, I do not know. She said: It is half an uqiyah. This comes to five hundred dirhams in all, and this was the dowry of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) for his pure wives. Urdu Translation
ابوسلمہ بن عبدالرحمن سے روایت ہے، انھوں نے کہا کہمیں نے ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے پوچھا کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی (ازواج مطہرات) کا مہر کتنا رکھا تھا؟ تو انھوں نے کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی ازواج مطہرات کا مہر بارہ اوقیہ اور ایک نش تھا۔ (انھوں نے) پوچھا کہ تمہیں نش کی مقدار معلوم ہے؟ ابوسلمہ کہتے ہیں، میں نے کہا کہ مجھے معلوم نہیں ہے۔ انھوں نے کہا کہ نصف اوقیہ ہے۔ یہ کل پانچ صد درھم بنتے ہیں اور یہی رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکا اپنی ازواج مطہرات کے لئے مہر تھا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 818]
