English Translation
Narrated 'Abd al-Rahman bin Humayd: I heard 'Umar bin 'Abd al-'Aziz saying to the people sitting in his gathering, "What have you heard about residing in Mecca?" So al-Sa'ib bin Yazid said, "I heard al-'Ala (may Allah be pleased with him) (or he said al-'Ala bin al-Hadrami, may Allah be pleased with him) saying that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'A muhajir (emigrant) may stay in Mecca for three days after completing the rites of Hajj' (meaning that he should not stay longer than that)." (For those who emigrated from Mecca, residing in Mecca after emigrating, or making Mecca their homeland, had been forbidden. However, permission for three days after Hajj and 'Umra is (found) in this hadith.)

عبدالرحمن بن حمید کہتے ہیں کہمیں نے عمر بن عبدالعزیز سے سنا وہ اپنی مجلس میں بیٹھے ہوئے لوگوں سے کہہ رہے تھے کہ تم نے مکہ میں رہائش کے بارے میں کیا سنا ہے؟ تو سائب بن یزید نے کہا کہ میں نے علاء رضی اللہ عنہ (یا کہا کہ علاء بن حضرمی رضی اللہ عنہ) سے سنا ہے وہ کہتے تھے کہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا: مہاجر حج کے مناسک ادا کرنے کے بعد تین روز تک مکہ میں ٹھہرے (مراد یہ تھی کہ اس سے زیادہ نہ رہے)۔ (مکہ سے ہجرت کرنے والوں کے لئے ہجرت کرنے کے بعد مکہ میں اقامت کرنا یا مکہ کو وطن بنانا ممنوع کر دیا گیا تھا۔ البتہ حج اور عمرہ کے بعد تین دن کی اجازت اس حدیث میں ہے)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 752]
