English Translation
Narrated Rafi' ibn Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) gave a hundred camels each to Abu Sufyan, Safwan, 'Uyaynah, and al-Aqra' ibn Habis, but gave somewhat less to 'Abbas ibn Mirdas (may Allah be pleased with him). So 'Abbas recited these verses (translation): "Are you setting the share of me and of my horse named 'Ubayd between 'Uyaynah and al-Aqra'? Yet neither 'Uyaynah nor al-Aqra' can surpass Mirdas (that is, me) in any assembly, and I am not one whit less than either of them. And he whose standing is lowered today will not be raised up again." Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) completed his hundred camels for him.
Urdu Translation
سیدنا رافع بن خدیج رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ابوسفیان، صفوان، عیینہ اور اقرع بن حابس کو سو سو اونٹ دئیے اور عباس رضی اللہ عنہ بن مرداس کو کچھ کم دئیے تو عباس رضی اللہ عنہ نے یہ اشعار کہے: (ترجمہ)”آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلممیرا اور میرے گھوڑے کا حصہ جس کا نام عبید تھا عیینہ اور اقرع کے بیچ میں مقرر فرماتے ہیں حالانکہ عیینہ اور اقرع دونوں مرداس سے (یعنی مجھ سے) کسی مجمع میں بڑھ نہیں سکتے اور میں ان دونوں سے کچھ کم نہیں ہوں۔ اور آج جس کی بات نیچے ہو گئی وہ پھر اوپر نہ ہو گی۔ سیدنا رافع رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ تب رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ان کے سو اونٹ پورے کر دئیے۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 513]
