English Translation
It is narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) delivered a sermon one day and mentioned a man among his companions who had died and had been given such a shroud that did not cover his private parts, and he had been buried at night. So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) expressed displeasure at his being buried at night, such that he did not pray the funeral prayer over him, except when a person is compelled. And he said: When one of you shrouds his brother, let him give a good shroud (so that it may cover his entire body very well). [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim/Hadith: 469]
Urdu Translation
سیدنا جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہنبی کریمصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ایک دن خطبہ ارشاد فرمایا اور اپنے اصحاب میں سے ایک شخص کا ذکر کیا جن کا انتقال ہو چکا تھا اور ان کو ایسا کفن دیا گیا تھا جس سے ستر نہیں ڈھانپا جاتا تھا اور شب کو دفن کر دیا گیا تھا۔ پس رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے انہیں رات میں دفن کرنے پر ناراضگی کا اظہار کیا کہ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے ان کی نماز جنازہ نہ پڑھی۔ مگر جب انسان لاچار ہو جائے۔ اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ جب تم میں سے کوئی اپنے بھائی کو کفن دے تو اچھا کفن دے (تاکہ اس کے تمام بدن کو خوب اچھی طرح ڈھانپ لینے والا ہو)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 469]
